The Isle of Mull

The Isle of Mull, is a large island within easy reach of  the ferry port of Oban, and also has ferry links to the North and East via the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

Once the island’s economic base was based on crofting and fishing, today, however, the tourism sector generates a thriving rural economy and Mull has many excellent hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions, employing local people.

The rise in international eco-tourism has seen Mull’s famous natural attractions come to the fore.

The island has a distillery based in its largest town, Tobermory,which is also home to the majority of the island’s small fishing fleet.

Fish-farming and forestry offer employment to those seeking an outdoor life while the island’s natural beauty has inspired several enterprising and talented individuals who have introduced and developed craft shops, workshops and galleries featuring the work of local artists, sculptors, jewellery makers and woodcraftsmen.
