Living in the Broadford
Broadford plays a central role on the Isle of Skye, because it is so central, being close to the point where the two roads which serve the island’s three ferry ports and capital, Portree, meet.
Along with neighbouring Harrapool it makes the second largest population centre on the island and has a primary school which sends its pupils on to Portree High School on the island.
It is this location which made it the ideal place for Skye’s hospital, a supermarket and a 24-hour petrol station.
The skyline is dominated by the Cuillins, Skye’s magnificent mountain range and Broadford Bay, a sheltered spot full of wildlife yet to live in Broadford is to be close to the Skye Bridge and instant access to the national road network and railway to Inverness at Kyle of Lochalsh and from there onto the national rail network and the Caledonian Sleeper train to London and Inverness Airport with its national and international links.
