Living in Muir of Ord
It is easy to see why Muir of Ord is such a popular place to live and commute to Inverness, which is less than half-an-hour away by road or rail.
It is a pretty village on the boundary of the Black Isle with the famous Black Isle Show, one of the highlights of the Scottish farming year held nearby.
It is also a village with a thriving sense of community; January 2017 saw the opening of the latest community venture, The Muir Hub with the restoration of the old Tarradale School building and its development as a community hub with a café.
Primary school pupils go to the modern Tarradale Primary School in the village and then on to Dingwall Academy.
Agriculture and the hospitality and the public sector form the backbone of the local jobs market, with the Glen Ord distillery just outside the village is the last remaining single malt distillery on the Black Isle.
Just as the Inverness is an employment hub, it is also at the heart of the region’s social and cultural life with plenty of shopping, theatre, cinema and an incredible live music scene. Inverness Airport has routes to all the major British destinations and some European ones and a rail link including the Caledonian Sleeper Service.
Muir of Ord is a great place to be based to enjoy the coast and the countryside as well as Inverness.
