Living in Aviemore
Say Aviemore and most people think of snowsports but Aviemore is much more than that, it is a year-round destination. Many people who visit decide they want to live here and they stay, becoming part of a community which predominantly serves the tourist and leisure market or serves those who are serving that industry.
Or they stay because sports are their life. Here is a fact to throw casually into a conversation: Did you know that the Badenoch and Strathspey area, which includes Aviemore, has produced more Olympic athletes per head of population than anywhere else in Britain?
Aviemore is the main accommodation destination for people visiting the Cairngorm Mountain Ski Resort.
But all this tourism and a thriving community need back-up and what might surprise many people is that Aviemore has Dalfaber Industrial Estate.
All this makes for a busy and hard-working village community which has its own primary school and the pupils go on to secondary education in neighbouring Kingussie.
The ease of access to this popular tourist destination means that it just as easy for residents to travel in the opposite direction on the A9 and enjoy a little of the hustle and bustle that their visitors are trying to escape. The railway station links Aviemore into the national rail network and the village is also the terminus for the historic preserved Strathspey Railway. The nearest airport is Inverness.
Jobs in hospitality
Aviemore has a great selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. There is a good choice of accommodation from resort hotels like Hilton to small bed and breakfasts and guest houses plus a selection of self-catering properties including chalets, lodges and log cabins and four campsites in and around the village.
Take a look at the hospitality, catering and tourism sector of our listings to find out what’s available today. You’ll find all kinds of roles working in catering, accommodation, shops guides and visitor attractions.
Jobs in healthcare
The healthcare sector is an exciting one to be a part of with a variety of roles to choose from. Whichever you decide to be suitable for you, you will have a chance to get to know the Aviemore community and make a real impact on their day-to-day health and lifestyle. Many of the roles you'll find will be posted by NHS Highland, which provides healthcare services across the Highland region. From staff nurse, to healthcare support worker, you will find the best role for you.
