Living in Nairn
Say Nairn to most people who know the town and they will instantly think of sand – miles and miles of beautiful white sand beaches.
It was these beaches and a trick of nature that gives the place its own sunny and dry micro-climate that turned Nairn into a Victorian spa town and the title of ‘the Brighton of the North’ and two 18-hole championship golf courses.
Fancy having all this on your doorstep and a commute of only 16 miles to Inverness?
There are proposals for more housing for the Nairn area in the future and you can see why.
As well all its holiday splendour - Charlie Chaplain was a regular visitor every summer - Nairn has its original old Fishertown, with its ancient port and a harbour built by Thomas Telford.
If it is history you want, Nairn has got it by the bucket, from neighbouring Culloden and its battlefield to the same white sand beaches being used to practise the Normandy landings.
Inverness airport is close by with its flights to most UK major destinations and Europe and so too is Inverness for its shopping entertainment and culture.
Not that Nairn doesn’t have its own its festivals are a wonder eclectic mixture: an international jazz festival, a book and arts festival along with a ‘boutique’ film festival created by the actress Tilda Swinton who lives in the town.
Pupils from the town’s two primary schools, Millbank and Rosebank send their pupils on to Nairn Academy.
The town is on the Inverness to Aberdeen railway line, giving easy access to both cities and all they have to offer, their airports and ferries from Aberdeen to the Northern Isles. Nairn is good strategic spot to live, work and raise a family.
